Steel Plant

The steel plant wished to monitor 12 points in hostile environments within their facility. The original budget for this project was set at $400,000USD. The cable costs alone over ran this budget without the inclusion of any installation or equipment costs.

AMEREX Integrated Solution

AMEREX Integrated was given the task of providing a system to monitor 12 points within the steel plant. AMEREX Integrated conducted a survey of the plant and informed the owner of the findings. AMEREX Integrated provided a proposal for the project which was a quarter of the original cost and include 36 points, three times as many from the original costing.

The site surveyed revealed, to cover the required hostile environmental areas would require 5 site controllers to cover the different selected areas and numerous field devices monitoring fire panels, gas detectors, doors and plant machinery status. The site controllers and field devices will be located in safe, hostile and hazardous areas. The units will be housed in various enclosures to meet the environment within the plant facility.

An overview of the facility will be provided by AIMs indicating all the 36 field device nodes and will be sited in the guard house and the main server room of the plant.

AIMs would be housed in the plant facility and also be monitored from a remote location outside the facility limits.

The Results

The plant owner by employing AMEREX Integrated and by using the technology saved three quarters of the planned budget and increased the field device coverage from the original 12 to 36 devices.

A second plant in Eastern USA will also be monitored by the system and is projected to come on line 1st quarter of 2017. AMEREX Integrated have been requested to conduct a site survey at this site in January 2017.
